What this policy covers

This policy explains how the Cavo iPhone app and this website handle information. Sam Jandris, based in Florida, United States, develops Cavo and is responsible for the personal information handled as described here. In this policy, "we" and "us" refer to Sam Jandris.

Your recordings and settings

Cavo processes camera images, audio, and color adjustments on your device. Recordings go to the destination you choose: the app's storage, Photos, a folder, or a connected external drive. When saving to Photos, Cavo first records to App Files and removes that copy after Photos confirms the save. If the save fails, the copy stays in App Files. Graded exports are separate files and preserve the original recording.

Camera preferences and imported LUTs are stored on your device. Cavo does not send us your footage, LUTs, settings, location, or advertising identifiers. It has no advertising, analytics SDK, or account system.

Device access

Camera and microphone
Used to show the viewfinder and record video with audio.
Photos
Used when you save recordings to Photos or choose videos to review and grade. Cavo respects the library access you grant in iOS.
Motion
Device motion provides the optional horizon level. Cavo does not save a motion track or send motion readings to us.
Files and external storage
Used to open LUTs and save recordings to destinations you select.

You can change Camera, Microphone, and Photos permissions in iOS Settings. Turning off a permission makes the related feature unavailable.

Photos, iCloud, and sharing

If you open a video stored in iCloud, Apple's Photos service may download it. Photos, iCloud Drive, and device backups may sync or back up your files according to your Apple settings. Cavo does not operate its own cloud storage.

When you use the system share sheet, the app or service you choose receives the file. Those services handle information under their own policies. Apple's services are covered by Apple's privacy policy.

Keeping and deleting files

Recordings remain in the destination you selected until you delete them. Cavo removes temporary working copies used for Photos review when the media sheet closes. It also cleans up temporary graded copies after sharing ends and incomplete exports after cancellation or failure. Interrupted cleanup can leave temporary files in app storage until iOS clears them or you delete the app. Removing a LUT removes it from Cavo's library.

Deleting Cavo removes its local app data. Offloading the app in iOS preserves its data. Files saved to Photos, other folders, external drives, or backups may remain and must be deleted there separately. We do not hold a server copy of your recordings or settings to delete.
